In today’s innovation economy, research that remains in laboratories is research that never reaches its potential. Academic expertise must be translated into market value, and advanced technologies must move from scientific papers to commercially viable products.
Deeptech Academy was Moldova’s first Lab-to-Market program, designed specifically for the academic community. Over 12 intensive weeks (February 17 – May 15, 2026), more than 20 researchers, university faculty, master’s and doctoral students went through the transformation process – from academic hypotheses to functional, validated, and investment-ready products.
It was not a theoretical course. It was a systematic transformation process where participants learned the commercialization of science, product thinking, and innovation valorization – moving from research hypothesis to market-ready solution in just three months.
What will happen at Demo Day:
- Live pitches – Participants present validated deeptech products in HealthTech, EnergyTech, AgriFood, and FinTech before a jury of investors and industry representatives.
- Functional demos – AI/ML solutions built in the program, from Proof of Concept to MVP, demonstrated live.
- Program results – Concrete impact on Moldova’s deeptech innovation ecosystem.
- Awards ceremony – Recognition of the best products, pitches, and teams.
- Statements and perspectives – Representatives of implementing partners, funders, and investors.
The three stages of the program:
Phase 1 – Deeptech fundamentals & product thinking (Weeks 1-4)
Participants explored AI/ML applications in four strategic sectors: HealthTech, EnergyTech, AgriFood, and FinTech. They learned how to identify high-value problems and transition from research methodology to product development logic.
Phase 2 – Applied development & MVP creation (Weeks 5-8)
They built functional prototypes in their chosen sector, working with real datasets, no-code/low-code platforms, and industry-standard tools. Focus on solution architecture and validation with real market stakeholders.
Intensive Bootcamp (April 24-26)
Three intensive days of execution under pressure: MVP finalization, validation interviews with industry stakeholders, pitch deck construction, and Demo Day rehearsal.
Phase 3 – Commercialization & investment readiness (Weeks 9-12)
Business model design for deeptech technologies, financial projections, IP protection strategies, grant writing, and refining pitches for investors.
